2 Peter 3:15-17

16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.
17 You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked;

Yesterday I got a call from a gentleman that listened to my radio show called, 'The Master's Table'. I talked about the spirit of Wormwood, Families in Trouble. It was a very convicting program, apparently for this young man. He said he had a great deal of anger and was really convicted with the notion that he may have the spirit of wormwood as a basis of his anger.

While speaking to this man, I started to realize that he was teaching me his twisted theology. He did it so gently, slithery. It took me unawares until the Holy Spirit quickened my spirit man to see his intent. In the guise of wanting to understand, he turned his attention to teaching me about the Holy Spirit. He started to tell me that the Holy Spirit was the spirit of God and that it was the spirit of Jesus Christ. Now this is true. However, his next statement he spoke he said, therefore, there is only the Father and the Son and that the Holy Spirit represented their personal spirit, and was not a separate entity; which is total error.

Then he cited John 14:15-17 to prove his point.

15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever--
17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

He believed that the word ANOTHER means ONE as in sameness. Indeed the Strong Concordance does say ONE but it says in conjunction with another.

NT:243 allos (al'-los); a primary word; "else," i.e. different (in many applications):

KJV - more, one (another), (an-, some an-) other (-s, -wise).

When I pointed this out to him, he cautioned me that not all concordances are accurate in their interpretation. No matter how he looked at it, he made the scriptures fit his theology or the doctrine of his church.

Then he continued to tell me that tongues was not for today and came against the Pentecostal movement in this nation. It was more and more difficult to carry a conversation with him because he was determined to debate with me.

Finally after being bombarded with this error. I told him that he was arrogant to think that he was teaching a teacher when in the scripture it says a student is not above his teacher. He was silent for a moment, but just for a moment because then he went on to continue in his doctrine of twisted scripture. I had to bring him back to my statement which he continued to ignore. Then I reminded him that it is sin to want to debate. He called it a discussion, but it clearly was a debate he was looking for.

After finding that there was no more reasoning with this person, poisoned by the spirit of wormwood, I told him to read Proverb 12:1. This was the word of the Lord for him. End of conversation.
